The recession's effect on downward modification of child support and alimony actions

Since the economic downturn and recession began in 2008, many former spouses with child support and/or alimony obligations have suffered a decrease in their financial status and/or income. Because of these reductions, there has been a substantial increase in the number of actions filed in Superior Court seeking downward modifications of child support and/or alimony obligations.
